A video of what??
Well, what comes in has to go out. And the main sewer line from the house to the municipal connection or to the septic system is the way things leave the dwelling. A small camera on a cable is inserted into the line through a clean-out in the basement or outside the home. Then it’s lights, camera, and action! (Well… we hope for little to no action actually.)
Sewer pipe video inspections are recommended for any house 15 years or older. And it’s a good way to check for settling and proper joint construction on newer houses too. During a typical home inspection, the water is run, toilets are flushed, and bath and showers are run. At the time, everything drains properly. Water can easily bypass roots or a partial blockage.
But in a few months, these undetected conditions can get worse, and then the new homeowner finds they have a problem. It’s also good maintenance to take a look and see how things are before they become a problem like tree roots or a collapsing, deteriorated line.
What do I get?
Similar to a home inspection, you will receive a detailed report of the findings along with the video you can access on YouTube.
How much?
The cost is $150 when combined with a home or maintenance inspection. And a stand alone sewer scope video is $200.
